Tais Derbnasova is an award winning professional Belly Dancer, teacher and choreographer based in Auckland, New Zealand. In August 2010 she was the winner of the "Dina's Choice" Prize in the Australian Belly Dance Star Awards. 

Tais was also crowned winner in the Solo and Best choreography categories of the National Oriental Dance Competition in Russia organized by the International Association of Artists in Egypt in 2007.

Tais has performed in numerous Belly Dance shows and festivals internationally, including Egypt. In September 2009 Tais was involved in Geoff Allen's theatrical play, "The Secret Life of a Bellydancer" performed at the Rose Centre in Belmont, Auckland.  She choreographed a number of dances for the play and performed as the top dancer (Veruska), a character that was added to the script by Geoff Allen for Tais to be part of the play.

Tais has also participated in Russian TV programmes and commercials and had her own Belly Dance Studio in Russia.

She has studied under the renowned Egyptian, Syrian, British and Russian teachers and choreographers of Oriental Dance. Tais used to do gymnastics and ballet and today incorporates the fluid motion and natural rhythm into her performances and choreographies. Since moving to New Zealand from Russia she has followed her passion with Belly Dance and started up her own Belly Dance School "TAIS BELLY DANCE" and is teaching on the North Shore as well as in Central Auckland.

Captivating audiences both young and old, Tais is truly passionate about Belly Dance, constantly looking to learn more and pass on her extensive knowledge. Her elegant and cheerful style made her a welcomed performer in the Middle Eastern Community. Her performances are fluid in technique, full of energy, fun to watch and even get involved in whether experienced or a complete novice. Tais expresses her sheer joy that is evident in her smile.

Tais has a Degree in Linguistics and Intercultural Communication and currently works full time as a professional Belly Dancer, teacher and choreographer.
